Arsenal news: Campbell issues two-word verdict on Kieran Tierney potentially joining Real Madrid

Kevin Campbell has insisted Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney is “going nowhere” amid interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The former Gunners striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 24-year-old is “next in line for the captaincy” at the Emirates Stadium.

According to 90min (11 March), Real Madrid’s interest in Tierney has “solidified” as they consider a move in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report claims Los Blancos’ highly acclaimed chief scout Juni Calafat has watched Tierney personally and liked what he saw.

The 30-time Scotland international is under contract at Arsenal until 2026 having signed a bumper extension just last year (2021).

Campbell claimed Tierney could assume captaincy duties this summer if current skipper Alexandre Lacazette departs the club.

“No chance,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury. “He’s going nowhere.

“He’s under contract at Arsenal. Arsenal are not going to sell.

“Arsenal are trying to build. I just can’t see Real Madrid coming in for Tierney. He’s performing brilliantly – and he’s next in line for the captaincy.

“If Lacazette leaves this summer, I think he will be the one Mikel Arteta calls upon to take over that job.”

Tierney joined Arsenal from Celtic in 2019, with the Londoners paying a reported £25million for his services.
