Arsenal news: Campbell supports controversial Emirates development as ‘opposition’ rises
Kevin Campbell has supported the decision for Arsenal to raise their season ticket prices despite “opposition” from large sections of the club’s support.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Highbury favourite said four per cent is not “an astronomical” rise given the current financial climate.
In their annual accounts (28 February), the Gunners posted an after tax loss of £107.3 million for the year ending 31 May 2021.

Hours after the announcement, the club confirmed season and matchday ticket prices would rise by four per cent from the 2022-23 campaign.
The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust (28 February) has condemned the rise as “unjustified” at a time when Arsenal’s revenues are increasing and fans struggling.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment for the news, Campbell said: “It was always going to be met by opposition.
“If I am correct, the ticket prices will not change for a while. Inflation is coming in. The price has to go up. The price of living is simply going up.
“At four per cent, I do not think it is astronomical. I think it is about right.

“The fact that Arsenal have had to up their prices is not going to clear the debts or the losses from Covid but it will help a little. The club had to do it.
“Fans want to pay as little as possible. I get that but at the end of the day, it is what it is.”
