Arsenal news: Danny Mills verdict on giants ‘swooping in’ for Bukayo Saka after major update

Bukayo Saka is unlikely to get a move from Arsenal to a Champions League club this summer, according to Danny Mills.

The former England defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 20-year-old should focus on trying to break the top four with the Gunners.

According to ESPN (3 February), Liverpool and Man City are keeping tabs on Saka – who is out of contract in June 2024.

As quoted by the Express (10 February), Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hinted that Champions League qualification would “help” with persuading the winger to pledge his future to the Gunners.

He confirmed the club want to keep Saka for “as long as possible”.

However, Mills claimed a top-four switch could materialise in the future if the England international continues to impress.

“It’s alright saying you want to play Champions League football – but it ain’t going to happen,” he told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

“Man City isn’t happening. You’ve got Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish – and whoever else is on their radar.

“When you look at it – Liverpool, Man City, probably Chelsea will get Champions League football. I doubt he’ll go to any of those clubs this summer.

“It’s alright to have ambitions of playing Champions League football. But there are only four clubs who can give you that each season.

“All he can do is concentrate and keep playing well. He’s getting better all the time. If he keeps putting in good performances, then he could even elevate Arsenal into those positions.

“But if not, if he’s playing well enough then someone will swoop in and take him to that level.”

Arsenal

Saka has contributed six goals and four assists in the Premier League this term.
