Arsenal news: ‘Perfect’ Gabriel Jesus claim issued after transfer confession – pundit

Gabriel Jesus would be a “perfect” fit for Arsenal if he decides to leave Man City, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-City and England full-back claimed Pep Guardiola would be keen to keep Jesus at the Etihad.

The Athletic reported last week (22 April) that Arsenal are exploring the possibility of signing the 25-year-old who is out of contract at the end of next season.

Man City

As quoted by the Guardian last Sunday (24 April), Jesus refused to commit his future to Man City and admitted he wanted to play more, especially in his preferred central position.

The Brazil international has operated out wide in recent weeks but has seven goals in his last six appearances across all competitions.

“It will all depend on what Jesus wants to do,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I’m sure Man City would like to keep him around as he’s always going to be that secondary striker.

“Even if Erling Haaland comes in, it’s not going to change his role that much. He’s still going to be coming off the bench and scoring goals.

“If City wanted to keep him and he wanted to stay, then I wouldn’t blame him.

“If he wanted to move away maybe Arsenal would be the perfect fit for him. He’s going to play every week and get you 15-plus goals a season playing up front.

“We know that Pep likes him and that work rate and don’t forget Mikel Arteta knows him from his time at Man City. He will know exactly what he’s all about.

“That could be a good fit if he wants to leave.”

In other news, Arsenal have made a move to sign a speed machine as £45million is set aside to seal the deal.
