Arsenal news: Pundit can’t believe Kieran Tierney latest – ‘he can’t go on this way’
Kieran Tierney does not have a future at Arsenal and needs to move on permanently.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton knows what it’s like to be left out of the squad by your manager and insisted Tierney has to quit the Emirates Stadium for good.
The 26-year-old completed a season-long loan move to Real Sociedad on Sunday after coming close earlier in the window to joining Newcastle United.
He has just under three years remaining on his contract at the Emirates but has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Tierney was also left out of the match day squad for the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Monday (21 August), despite Zinchenko still recovering from injury and not fit enough to return to the starting lineup.
Hutton can’t believe how Tierney is being treated at Arsenal.
“I do not understand it,” he told Football Insider.
“I think he is an outstanding footballer so I do not understand why he is not even in the squad.
“Zinchenko coming back in, Tomiyasu who is a right-back playing on the left-hand side, Partey who is a midfielder playing at right-back – why can they not play Tomiyasu on the right and Tierney on the left?
“I know the manager likes to play a particular way, [Thomas] Partey comes into midfield, maybe he thinks that is the best solution for his squad at this moment in time.

“If you are Kieran Tierney and you are not even making matchday squads, you need to see if your future lies there.
“He can’t go on this way not making the squad. I have been there myself so I know how difficult it can be. For someone with his talent, you just do not want to see that.“
