Arsenal news: Pundit makes ‘amazing’ Jorginho claim
Jorginho is the “glue” of the Arsenal side and he flies under the radar.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie praised Jorginho, 32, for allowing the Gunners’ more skilful stars to thrive from the base of midfield.
It has been widely reported this week that the Italian is set to pen a new deal at the Emirates, but Football Insider revealed last month (20 March) that the north Londoners were planning to offer him fresh terms after his exceptional outings.
He has featured regularly for Mikel Arteta’s outfit this term having made 35 appearances in all competitions and was particularly impressive in the Gunners’ Champions League run.
Jorginho has been ‘fantastic’ for Arsenal – McAvennie
McAvennie claimed that Jorginho allows the side to “keep things simple” when needed and never puts a foot wrong.
“There are some players like that who go under the radar and Jorginho is one of them,” he told Football Insider.
“He doesn’t do anything wrong and he lets the players get on with it around him.
“He’s the glue of the team and he keeps things simple.
“If they’re struggling or having a bad game, he helps as he can go back to basics and keep things simple.
“He can see a pass too, don’t get me wrong, but only when it’s on.
“The boys like Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard – let them go and get the headlines!
“But Jorginho is an amazing player.”
