Finance guru: Arsenal ‘not told the whole truth’ about Granit Xhaka amid criminal probe
Arsenal have not been told the “whole truth” about the criminal probe into Granit Xhaka’s alleged spot-fixing activity because of legal barriers.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest in the controversy surrounding the Swiss midfielder.
Xhaka, 29, is currently the subject of a criminal investigation into a suspicious yellow card received in the Gunners’ win over Leeds United in December last year.

It is understood that £52,000 was staked by an unknown source on Xhaka being booked, which triggered a suspicious betting pattern alert.
The Daily Mail reported last Friday (15 July) that Arsenal and the FA have been kept in the dark about the legal review after it was passed on by the Gambling Commission.
But Plumley suggests that it is not out of the ordinary that the north London club are not aware of the latest in proceedings.
“I’m no lawyer but I imagine this is tied up in legal stuff,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“There are probably some things that they can say and some they can’t by law. That’s likely why they’ve not been told the whole truth.

“If it’s a traditional employee and employer relationship, I think it’s unlikely that the employer would know what’s going on until the case has been heard.
“So, I assume this is par for the course.”
