Arsenal open talks on yet another deal as Jorginho as demands emerge – sources
Arsenal are set to offer Jorginho a new contract after his exceptional performances in recent months, sources have told Football Insider.
Jorginho, 32, is out of contract at the end of the season, but the Gunners have the option to extend his deal for another year.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the Italy international is keen to stay at the Emirates but wants a two-year extension to his contract.
It is believed that Mikel Arteta’s side are opening talks with the midfielder now and are hopeful he will agree new terms.
Arsenal set to offer Jorginho new deal
He joined Arsenal on an 18-month contract from London rivals Chelsea on deadline day in the winter window last year for a reported £12million.
This season, he has started just eight Premier League games but has started the last three – all convincing wins in the Gunners’ title push.
He has played a major role in recent huge wins for the club, including their 3-1 win against Liverpool last month (4 February) and their 4-1 victory over Newcastle United (24 February).
Jorginho has been a mainstay in Arsenal’s Champions League campaign having featured in seven clashes and captaining his side on two occasions.
He has made 44 appearances in all competitions since joining, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
Arsenal confirmed on Wednesday (20 March) that Takehiro Tomiyasu signed a contract extension, while Ben White, Martin Odegaard, William Saliba and Bukayo Saka have also committed their long-term future to the club in the last year.

Arsenal sit at the top of the Premier League on goal difference and most recently advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Porto on penalties last week (12 March).
They are next set to face third-place Man City at the Etihad on 31 March after the international break.
