Arsenal or Man City? The specific reason Keith Wyness expects a ‘falter’ in the title race

Arsenal remain favourites to win the Premier League title despite holding just a five-point advantage over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who thinks Man City will drop points again before the end of the season.

Man City could overturn the five-point gap on Arsenal if they win every game between now and the end of the season, with the two sides still having to face each other once more at the Etihad.

Arsenal have not won a Premier League title since the 2003-2004 season, whilst Guardiola has pedigree with Man City having won four of the past five campaigns.

‘My money would still be on Arsenal’

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the clash in April between Arsenal and Man City is “crucial.”

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks it will be a “fascinating” conclusion to the Premier League season at both ends of the table.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Yeah, look, it’s a fascinating end to the season. The whole table is exciting. We talked about relegation. The mid-table for Europe is exciting and certainly the top.

“But I do think Arsenal are going to hang on. I think that Man City themselves have not shown great consistency yet. They’re starting to pick up a little bit of form, but I still think they’ll falter as well in other games before the end of the season.

“There is that crucial game. So in a sense, it’s in Man City’s hands. If they win every single game, then they would be the ones that would win the title. But there’s a challenge there, and I don’t think we’re quite seeing it yet.

“We’re still, when we get to the last three or four games, then we might know more. But at the moment, my money would still be on Arsenal.”

Arsenal and Man City prepare for cup final clash

Both sides will also meet in next month’s Carabao Cup final to decide who wins the first trophy on offer this season.

Whoever is victorious could have the momentum to go on and win the title, and land a psychological blow on their nearest rivals.

Three Premier League fixtures, and an FA Cup tie, await both before that trip to Wembley, with it set to be only the second meeting in a cup final between the two clubs in their history.
