Sources: Arsenal defender Clarke undergoing Hibernian medical tomorrow after deal terminated

Arsenal defender Harry Clarke is undergoing a Hibernian medical tomorrow, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The 20-year-old has been given the green light to go on another Scottish Premiership loan after his Ross County loan was terminated.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Clarke will undergo medical tests at Edinburgh-based Hibs tomorrow.

The terms of a loan deal have been agreed and the transfer is expected to be finalised in the next 24 hours.

Clarke has made major strides in the last two seasons while on loan at Ross County in the SPL and Oldham Athletic in League Two.

He started 15 league matches among 17 appearances in all competitions during his spell at Ross County.

Clarke looks set to become the first new signing of the Shaun Maloney era at Easter Road.

The ex-Celtic and Aston Villa player, who recently stepped down as assistant to Roberto Martinez at Belgium, was named Hibs boss last month.

He presides over a team that are currently 5th in the Scottish Premiership, seven places and 11 points ahead of Clarke’s old side Ross County.

Staggies boss Malky Mackay said in a statement on Sunday (2 December) that he was “disappointed” that Arsenal had cut short Clarke’s stay in Dingwall.

Clarke plays predominantly as a centre-back but has also spent a lot of time at right-back in his burgeoning career.

The Gunners currently have 16 players out on loan, including 11 academy graduates.
