Arsenal ready to sign Partey replacement – ‘it’s a huge deal’, says pundit
Arsenal have Thomas Partey’s replacement lined up.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton insisted the Gunners will need to use the money they make from Partey’s sale wisely.
According to The Athletic (20 June), the club are working with the 30-year-old’s representatives on potential exit solutions.
The midfielder is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia and the Londoners are willing to consider their options if a suitable opportunity arises for a sale.
The Ghana international’s current contract runs until 2025.
Hutton is surprised that Mikel Arteta is willing to ship out the midfielder.
“I thought Partey was good,” he told Football Insider.
“I know he had injuries and different things have happened but you really need to think that they have got somebody lined up to fill that void if they are going to let him leave. It’s a huge deal to replace your best central midfielder.
“If you get the fee that you are looking for and you can reinvest it within your squad, maybe Arteta feels he needs more strength and depth, so he will need to use that money wisely.“
Partey made 40 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners in the 2022-23 season and scored three goals in those outings.

Arsenal have been pursuing a deal for Declan Rice for some time and are finally closing in on a deal for the midfielder, that would soften the blow of Partey’s potential exit.
On 13 June, Football Insider revealed that the Gunners have agreed terms for a £100million-plus deal with the England international.
