Kieran Maguire issues ‘£144m’ Arsenal reveal as new deal done – ‘this is big’

Arsenal have fallen well behind their peers when it comes to commercial income.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gunners’ latest sponsorship deal.

The club announced a partnership with blockchain-powered hotel and resort platformLABS Group on Tuesday (6 December).

Arsenal’s commercial revenue fell by £12m in 2021-22 and has plunged almost every year since they were last in the Champions League.

Maguire revealed that the North Londoners generated £144m in total, a figure dwarfed by the likes of Liverpool, the two Manchester clubs, Chelsea, and Tottenham,

“Arsenal’s commercial income is the lowest of the Big Six clubs,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“It generates less than half of the figure generated by Man City. It was £144m in 2022, which we have to remember was a non-Covid year.

“It is an area that they have to look to grow. There is no doubt that it has been stunted in recent years partly as a result of the failure to qualify for the Champions League.

If you talk to sponsors and commercial partners, they want their products to be closely linked to success. That is big.

If we go back to 2015, Arsenal had £119m of annual commercial income. To only grow that to £144m by 2022 is very modest, especially when you try to compare them to the rest of their peer group.
