‘Arsenal scouts make Mohammed Kudus transfer decision’
Mohammed Kudus must step up his performances for West Ham if he wants to secure a move away, according to the club’s former scout.
Mick Brown, who worked as a senior scout at the London Stadium until leaving alongside David Moyes and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that clubs are uncertain about signing the winger based on his inconsistent displays.
Football Insider revealed in November that Arsenal are continuing to monitor the 24-year-old and could act on their long-standing interest sooner rather than later.
However, Brown explained that those plans have been delayed as they have been disappointed by his level of performances for West Ham this season.
Kudus is said to be keen on a move to a bigger club come the end of the season if the Hammers miss out on European qualification, given the level of interest in his signature.
As things stand, though, Brown insists club will want to see more from the Ghana international before they are willing to spend “major” money on him.
West Ham star Mohamed Kudus told what he must do to secure Arsenal transfer
In a difficult season so far for West Ham, Kudus has scored just three goals and provided two assists across 21 games in all competitions and has failed to hit the hights of last season.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, called on the forward to show more consistency in his game both to help West Ham and potential seal a move away.
“He’s got to step up for West Ham before he can go elsewhere,” he told Football Insider.
“He isn’t playing at the level he is capable of playing at this season, for whatever reason.
“For me, he’s always had an issue where he impacts a game for an hour, but then he hits a wall. He isn’t even performing for that hour at the moment.
“You’re waiting for him to step up and show what he can do.
“Scouts watching him from the likes of Arsenal will be looking at that and looking at his consistency, and based on this season I don’t think they’ll be convinced.
“They won’t be willing to spend the major money it would take to sign him, on a player who hasn’t been performing.

“If he wants to move on like I expect he will if they don’t get European football, he needs to show he’s capable of making that step up.
“The only way he can do that is by performing at his best for West Ham.”
