Arsenal set for dramatic transformation after Kroenke reveal – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Arsenal and the Kroenke ownership now have the resources to improve the squad and fund an Emirates Stadium redevelopment.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the Gunners now have the “freedom” to improve their stadium after years of paying down the debt from its construction.
In an interview with ESPN earlier this year (30 July), club co-chair Josh Kroenke revealed initial “internal conversations” have taken place about upgrading Arsenal’s home.
The Emirates Stadium opened in 2006 and holds 60,704 fans – with capacity yet to be improved.
Kroenke also reaffirmed his commitment to delivering Premier League title success at Arsenal after back-to-back second-place finishes.
Mikel Arteta’s side sit fourth in the table after drawing 2-2 away at Man City on Sunday (22 September).
Arsenal now have resources to transform Emirates Stadium, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Arsenal have got freedom now to upgrade the stadium and the squad.
“Kroenke has signalled that he wants to win the league, and Arteta is very focused on doing that as well.
“He’s a winner.
“There are enough resources for them to upgrade the Emirates and also keep that squad really current.
“With a number of clubs I’ve been speaking to, the focus is not on the domestic fans but on the international fanbases.
“These clubs are trying to monetise that as much as possible.

“That’s what we’ll see with Arsenal.
“You can milk the domestic market only so far, as we’ve seen with other clubs around the Premier League.”
