Arsenal set for ‘massive’ cash ‘injection’ after journalist’s Lucas Torreira update – Campbell
Kevin Campbell has insisted the potential sale of Lucas Torreira could provide Arsenal with a “nice injection of funds” ahead of a busy summer.
The former Gunners striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Mikel Arteta will have to “seriously strengthen and fatten” his squad during the main window.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano (29 March), Arsenal are prepared to let Torreira, 26, leave permanently this summer with talks due to take place with loan club Fiorentina.
The journalist claims the Italian club can purchase the midfielder for €15million (£12.6million) thanks to a clause in the loan agreement.
The 37-cap Uruguay international has notched four goals and one assist in 28 appearances this term.
Campbell claimed that potential fee could be a “massive boost” for Arteta.
“Anything that Arsenal can bring in for a player who isn’t playing is a massive boost,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s not going to go for huge money, but it’ll be a nice injection of funds.
“We’re coming into the summer now and Arsenal are going to really have to make some moves.
“There’s going to be a few players leaving, but they’ll have to seriously strengthen and fatten that squad up – because they’re hopefully going to be challenging on four fronts, including the Champions League.”
Arsenal signed Torreira from Sampdoria in 2018 for a reported £26million fee.
He made 89 appearances for the Gunners before being loaned out to Atletico Madrid last season.

Arteta’s side are in the box seat to secure Champions League qualification this season.
The north London side are three points clear of Tottenham with a game in hand on their fierce rivals.
