Arsenal slammed as ‘nothing short of a disgrace’ and Tony Adams must be appalled – pundit

Frank McAvennie claims the current Arsenal squad is the worst he’s ever seen.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, even claimed the Gunners will miss out on a European spot again this season.

Arsenal have lost their opening two games of the new Premier League season.

Last Friday’s loss at Brentford was followed by a 2-0 home defeat to London rivals Chelsea.

The Gunners are missing some senior players through illness, such as Ben White and Alexandre Lacazette.

However, McAvennie insists this is no excuse and pointed to last week’s defeat when explaining why Arsenal will miss out on playing in Europe again.

“This is the worst Arsenal team I’ve ever seen,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Tony Adams and Martin Keown, what must they be thinking?

“There’s nothing there, no Europe, no togetherness, what a fall from grace.

“That Brentford game was nothing short of a disgrace. I know they had players missing but it was a newly promoted side.

“I don’t care about the circumstances. Any team worth their salt goes to a newly promoted side and wins.

“They are nowhere near this season. I’m not sure they will even get Europe again, there are much better teams.

“That would be crazy but it’s very possible.”

Arsenal have lost both of their league games 2-0, failing to breach either Chelsea or Brentford’s defence.

Mikel Arteta will look to turn his side’s fortunes around against West Brom in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
