Arsenal news: Medical expert names exact Thomas Partey return date amid season-ending fear

Thomas Partey could return for Arsenal in time to face North London rivals Tottenham on 12 May.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Partey, 28, limped off with an injury to his right thigh in last Monday’s (4 April) damaging 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.

As quoted by The Guardian last Friday (8 April), Mikel Arteta revealed: “It could be [that he can play again this season] but it could not be the case.”

Dinnery predicts, based on a previous injury in 2022, that the Ghanaian midfielder could return for what might be a crucial game against Spurs.

“I understand that it’s around the same area as a previous thigh injury from 2020,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“He picked that one up in the North London derby and it lasted around that five-week period.

“If we’re looking to base it on that in terms of severity, he could return in a similar timeframe.

“Funnily enough, that would coincide with the North London derby again.

“He is meeting with a specialist to help identify whether there is an underlying issue that would explain why this has come up again.

“He is so important to that Arsenal team. It’s night and day in terms of points per game when he is and isn’t in the team.”

Partey has registered two goals and one assist in 26 appearances for the Gunners this term.

Arteta’s side have lost their last two matches and are now three points outside the top four with eight games remaining.
