Arsenal star Riccardo Calafiori sends message as contract terminated
Edoardo Bove has officially left Roma after his contract was terminated at the Italian club.
The 23-year-old central midfielder had been a regular in the side this season after playing 15 times in all competitions, with 12 of these coming in the Serie A.
However, with Bove being fitted with a defibrillator, following a cardiac arrest while playing on loan at Fiorentina last season, he has now been forced to leave Roma, as the procedure prevents him from continuing his career in Italy.
As a result, plenty of players have reacted to his sad news, including Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori.

Since Calafiori’s move to Arsenal in 2024, he has established himself as one of the league’s best full-backs.
The Italy international is well on his way to a Premier League title this season, with Arsenal’s 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest helping them to go seven points clear at the summit.
However, despite now being settled at the Emirates, the 23-year-old has clearly still remained in contact with many of his former teammates from his time in the Serie A.
Both Bove and Calafiori played together at Roma, with the Arsenal star being at the capital club between 2010 and 2022 after progressing through their academy.
Therefore, when Bove announced his departure on Instagram on 19 January, Calafiori was quick to react to the sad news.
The Arsenal star replied to the post saying: “See you very soon,” followed by a red love heart emoji.
What is next for Bove?
According to the Watford Observer on 17 January, the Hornets are eyeing Bove now that he has become a free agent.
Watford are believed to be a serious option for the midfielder and are one of several clubs keen to sign the former Roma star.
As it stands, Watford are in the race for promotion back to the Premier League, with the Championship outfit currently eighth in the table, despite their 2-0 defeat to Millwall on the weekend.
Javi Garcia’s side have been out of the Premier League since being relegated in the 2021-22 campaign.
However, it remains to be seen if the Hornets can get the deal over the line, given the interest in the midfielder already.
