Arsenal star trolls transfer target Viktor Gyokeres in new message

Arsenal defender Gabriel has taken to social media to post an image of himself mocking Viktor Gyokeres’ trademark ‘mask’ celebration.

The 26-year-old scored Arsenal’s third goal in their comprehensive 5-1 Champions League win over Portuguese champions Sporting CP on Tuesday (November 26).

Gabriel timed his run to perfection, keeping his eye on Declan Rice’s inswinging corner before powering home a lovely header, his third of the season.

He then wheeled away, copying Gyokeres’s signature celebration, as Arsenal beat over the team that had previously defeated Pep Guardiola’s Man City 4-1 in their last Champions League encounter.

Gyokeres, 26, has since responded to Gabriel’s mimicry, telling ViaPlay, “Gabriel’s celebration? “He’s welcome to steal it if he can’t create his own celebration. I didn’t know he did that, but it’s fun he likes my celebration.”

Gabriel puts Arsenal Viktor Gyokeres pursuit in danger

According to The Telegraph, Gyokeres will have a release clause of just £63million next summer, and Arsenal are one of several Premier League clubs interested in the Sweden international.

With 24 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions for Sporting, the race for his signature could go down to fine margins, and Gabriel’s latest Instagram post may not go down well.

Arsenal appear to have navigated through a rough patch of form, winning their last two games, having previously won just one of their previous five.

Sitting in fourth, a win over West Ham on Saturday (November 30) could see Mikel Arteta’s side temporarily jump up to second, with Man City and Liverpool set to play each other on Sunday (December 1).
