Arsenal star who won zero ground duels on international duty faces axe vs Fulham

Arsenal’s strong squad depth means one Gunners star risks losing his place in the starting XI against Fulham following a poor display on international duty.

Mikel Arteta spent heavily in the summer as he looks to oust Liverpool from the top of the Premier League after they won the title by a 10-point margin last season.

Arsenal’s 2-0 win over West Ham means they go into the international break top of the table, with their only defeat coming at Liverpool.

Arteta has demonstrated his ability to rotate his squad, and the Spaniard will not be afraid to make changes against Fulham, in Arsenal‘s first game back after the international break.

Leandro Trossard fails to make impact for Belgium

Saka has been hailed as “world-class” for England during this international break, but fellow forward Leandro Trossard did not take his opportunity for Belgium against North Macedonia.

Belgium draw 0-0 in that World Cup qualifying clash meaning they remain a point behind North Macedonia heading into their match against Wales, just one point behind them.

Trossard started the match up-front, with Man City‘s Jeremy Doku deployed on the left flank, and the 30-year-old won none of his five ground duels, and did not successful complete a dribble alongside his limited attacking impact.

Trossard faces Fulham axe after Belgium display

Trossard has started the past four games for Arsenal, fending off competition from Gabriel Martinelli and Eberechi Eze down.

Martinelli shone for Arsenal against Olympiacos, and has scored three goals in his last six appearances.

Eze looks to be preferred in midfield, despite starting his Gunners career down the left, and with Martin Odegaard out with a shoulder problem, he looks set to deputise in the number 10 role.

Martinelli though looks like he could earn a first Premier League start since August, with Trossard now not contributing a goal or assist in his last four starts.
