Arsenal story ‘becomes a David Ornstein exclusive’
Arsenal fans will back the appointment of West Ham chief Tim Steidten if he is brought in to replace Edu at the Emirates.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider it’s “crazy” the media are now focusing so much on behind-the-scenes appointments.
The Telegraph reported on 7 November West Ham fear their technical director Steidten could be in the running to replace Edu at Arsenal.
The Brazillian left the Emirates earlier this month to take up a lucrative role in Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis’s multi-club organisation.
Steidten arrived at West Ham in July 2023 and endured a rocky relationship with ex-boss David Moyes last term.
The German has also worked at Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen.
Arsenal fans will be confused about Edu exit
Although Borson insisted the Arsenal fans will trust the appointment of Steidten if he makes the move to north London, he believes there will still be confusion around Edu’s exit.
He told Football Insider: “It’s only recently that we have had the situation where people have started to focus on sporting directors and the transfers of sporting directors.
“Real Sociedad’s sporting director has just become available this week and it becomes a David Ornstein exclusive.
“It’s a crazy world that we now have, where these are the biggest stories that are breaking like transfers.
“I suspect Arsenal fans don’t really have a clear understanding of the quality or not of Steidten.
“Ultimately, if he’s appointed, they will trust that after a search he was the best guy for the job.

“I think the confusion still will just be what happened with Edu and whether it is just a case of him wanting a bigger job at Nottingham Forest and in that group.
“From the face of it, it looks like quite a loss.”
