Kieran Maguire: Arsenal takeover possible as world’s 10th richest man’s stance revealed

It is impossible to rule out a situation in which Stan Kroenke sells Arsenal to Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about when the KSE regime may decide to cash out on their investment in the Gunners.

Ambani, the 65-year-old listed by Forbes as the world’s 10th richest man, has recently been linked with a deal to buy Liverpool, who are one of two blue-chip English clubs on the market alongside rivals Man United.

But The Athletic reported on Thursday (15 December) that Ambani’s son, Akash, is an Arsenal supporter and that they are the only club the family would pursue if they ever decided to enter the world of football.

Kroenke first took a stake in the North Londoners in 2007 and spurned the advances of Spotify founder Daniel Ek, another Arsenal fan who wanted to buy into the club, only last year.

But Maguire suggests that the developments in Manchester and Liverpool may have left the American contemplating a sale.

In the world of finance, you never say never,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

Stan Kroenke will have seen the prices touted around for United and Liverpool.

Given that he is a similar owner to the Glazers and FSG in the sense that he has no real interest in football and sees Arsenal as a financial investment, he will be monitoring things.

He’ll want to see if there is anyone who ends up not buying Liverpool or United because they want to buy a club in London.

Therefore, you cannot rule out somebody such as Ambani or his family.

It would simply be a case of the asking price for Arsenal having gone up because they are benchmarking against other clubs. There is a lot of interest in the market.
