Arsenal tipped to bin Lacazette after ‘big money’ reveal – pundit

Danny Mills has tipped Arsenal to bin Alexandre Lacazette when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England defender insisted Arsenal need to learn from the past when they handed big contracts to Willian and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as they passed their peak.

The Sun reported last week (November 22) they will not open negotiations with Lacazette, who it is claimed earns £200,000-a-week, until the end of the campaign.

The striker admitted to French outlet Telefoot yesterday (November 27), via the Daily Mail, his agents are working on other options ahead of the January window.

As quoted by club media (November 25), Mikel Arteta revealed he was relaxed about the Frenchman’s situation.

Asked whether they should offer Lacazette a new deal, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “They’re going to need some kind of replacement if they are to let him go.

“But is he doing enough at the moment to earn a new deal on big money? I don’t see it if I’m honest. It would be big to let him go, but they should.

“You look at the likes of Willian and Aubemayang. Is it the best move all around? If he wasn’t at Arsenal would you be thinking ‘We need to sign this player’? Probably not is the answer.”

Lacazette has scored three times in 11 games across all competitions this season, including one in eight Premier League appearances.

The 30-year-old has scored a total of 68 goals and contributed 29 assists in 181 Arsenal appearances across all competitions.
