Arsenal to be pipped to title by Man City says the man who ‘signed Mikel Arteta’

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has predicted Manchester City will come out on top over Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – admitted it’s going to take a Man City “slip-up” for the title to be heading to the Emirates this season.

The Gunners currently sit one point above the Citizens at the top of the table heading into the final few weeks of the campaign, but Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand.

That fixture is against Tottenham, where Arsenal will be counting on their North London rivals to do them a favour in their bid to lift the Premier League trophy later this month.

Man City to claim Premier League title over Arsenal

Wyness is hoping Mikel Arteta’s side can come out on top in the battle for the title after previously signing the former Everton midfielder at Goodison.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “There has been a lot of debate, but I’ve got to come out on the sense that Man City are going to be strong enough to do it.

“Arsenal have got a decent run-in and are certainly going to be competing, but I think Man City are going to have enough. They have shown great resilience this year.

“I’ve noticed Saka has been particularly tough and resilient, whereas before that may not have been the case. He’s certainly impressed with that sort of thing.

“But the whole Arsenal squad, Arteta has got them believing and they are fighting for him.

“They have a chance, but it’s going to take a Man City slip-up for it to happen.

“I would love Arteta to do it, I’m very fond of him. He played at Everton when I was there, I signed him.

“I would really love him to do it, but I’m afraid I think it’s going to be Man City just pipping them.”
