Arsenal told to accept ‘£35m’ Folarin Balogun offer – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Arsenal must sell Folarin Balogun and sign a “proven striker” this summer.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 21-year-old is not at the required “standard” for the Gunners despite his goal-laden season in France.

Sources told this site on Friday (14 April) that Balogun does not want to return to Arsenal next season unless he is guaranteed first-team minutes.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg (12 April), the Gunners value the striker at around £35million as RB Leipzig line up a potential summer move.

Balogun has scored 19 goals in 31 games on loan at Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims this season and is just one strike adrift of the league’s top scorers.

The England Under-21 international, who is out of contract at Arsenal in June 2025, has made just two Premier League appearances.

When asked if Balogun should move on this summer, Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think so.

“He’s done well in France, but I don’t think he’s Arsenal standard.

“They’re going to be in the Champions League next season, they need another proven striker to compete with Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus.

“I don’t think Arsenal would use him next season if he came back.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta

“Him scoring goals in France has helped the club. Now they can put him up for sale and name their price.

“It’s definitely a sale waiting for Arsenal to make.”
