Arsenal told to agree £60m Lautaro Martinez deal after source’s reveal – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Arsenal need to haggle the transfer fee for Lautaro Martinez down to £60million for the deal to be considered good business.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Inter Milan striker is too slow to demand a huge transfer fee.

Football Insider sources revealed on Tuesday (14 February) that the Gunners have reignited interest in 25-year-old Martinez ahead of the summer window.

The Serie A side are struggling with financial problems and could be forced to part with the Argentina international in the summer, with a fee of £70-80million believed to be enough to complete a deal.

Arsenal are set to face competition from Manchester United and Chelsea for Martinez’s signature in the summer, with the forward reportedly keen on moving to the Premier League.

Arsenal are currently relying on Eddie Nketiah to lead the line following an injury to Gabriel Jesus that has left the Brazilian on the sidelines since the World Cup.

Agbonlahor believes Martinez could be a good signing for Arsenal but warned the league leaders about overspending on the forward.

I think it depends on the fee itself,” he told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury.

If Arsenal can get the cost down to £60million then I think it’d be good business.

Nketiah could be allowed to go on loan and Martinez would join Gabriel Jesus as Arsenal’s two main strikers.

But anything more than £60million I think is too much.

He’s not quick at all – he’s a good finisher but there is a major lack of pace to demand a transfer fee that large.
