Arsenal told to complete another box-office midfield signing after Declan Rice update
Arsenal have been told to complete another box-office midfield signing – and hand Declan Rice a new role.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that Rice and Kai Havertz still doesn’t complete Mikel Arteta’s midfield.
The Gunners have had an aggressive start to the transfer window as they attempt to make another title push as they spent a total of 248 days at the top of the table last season but suffered a late-season collapse as Man City won their third consecutive league title.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (3 July) that Arsenal are set to complete deals for both Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber this week for a combined fee of around £145million.
Arteta’s side have already confirmed the signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea for a fee of around £65million and are preparing to make way for their second and third arrivals of the summer.
Despite Arsenal’s heavy spending early in the transfer window, Agbonlahor believes that the Gunners still need more acqusitions.
“They definitely need one more,” He told Football Insider.
“A midfield of Havertz, Odegaard and Rice is good, but I still feel like they need another ball winning midfielder.

“Thomas Partey hasn’t been at his best so we don’t know how he is going to start the season, and they need another strong getting midfielder.
“Another engine so it can give Rice the access to push forward.”
