Arsenal will accept £25m Thomas Partey bid as replacement lined up – sources

Arsenal are in the market for a new central midfielder this summer to replace Thomas Partey, sources have told Football Insider.

The Ghana international’s contract is set to expire in June 2025 and the Gunners are willing to listen to offers for him once the transfer window reopens.

The North London club have set an asking price of between £20million and £25million to allow the 30-year-old to leave the Emirates this summer.

Football Insider revealed last week that Mikel Arteta’s side remain interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz despite previously seeing offers rejected for him.

Arsenal looking to sell Thomas Partey in midfield shake-up

There could be a significant shake-up in the midfield department for Arsenal this summer if they manage to offload Partey.

With the Ghanaian set to turn 31 in June and 32-year-old Jorginho’s contract expiring at the end of this season, the Gunners look keen to add some fresh blood in the middle of the park.

Partey has started just six games this season, including Tuesday’s 5-0 demolition of Chelsea, after missing a large chunk of the campaign with a hamstring injury.

After big-money signing Declan Rice has emerged as the main man in midfield, Partey’s role in the side has diminished this year despite being named in the starting lineup for the convincing 5-0 victory over Chelsea on 23 April.

If the club can secure a deal upwards of £20million to move him on when the transfer window reopens, Arteta could look to test Villa’s resolve with another bid for Luiz.

Football Insider previously revealed that the West Midlands club could be forced to sell the 25-year-old Brazilian if their £100million price tag is met this summer.
