Arsenal work on home-grown signing as Aaron Ramsdale news revealed – sources

Arsenal are keen to sign a third-choice goalkeeper in the imminent summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Gunners will only consider homegrown shot-stoppers for the role as they prepare to sell multiple academy products in the off-season.

Mikel Arteta’s side are open to offers for Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson and therefore need to boost their homegrown quota to comply with Premier League and Champions League rules.

David Raya’s loan deal is expected to be made permanent in the coming weeks and he will maintain his role as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The Gunners are currently planning to keep Aaron Ramsdale in his position as the club’s second-choice shot-stopper, and are planning to add to their goalkeeping unit with a new signing.

Arsenal plot homegrown goalkeeper deal – he will be third choice

Arthur Okonkwo, 22, has been released by the club after spending the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Wrexham, while Estonia international Karl Hein remains in talks over a new deal with his current contract set to expire this month.

Raya, 28, joined Arsenal on loan from Brentford last summer (2023) and the Gunners have the option to make that deal permanent.

The Spain international, who will reportedly cost £27million, quickly leapfrogged Ramsdale in Arteta’s pecking order.
