Arsenal ‘youngsters’ singled out by Campbell after ‘unacceptable’ reveal

Kevin Campbell has pointed the finger at the “youngsters” at Arsenal after Monday night’s loss to Crystal Palace.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunner and Everton striker said Mikel Arteta’s side have “typically struggled” after international breaks and believes that could be down to inexperience.

Arsenal’s top-four hopes were dealt a blow yesterday after a 3-0 loss at Selhurst Park.

As quoted by Football.London (4 April), Arteta pulled no punches when analysing his team’s “unacceptable” performance and apologised to fans.

Campbell claimed the Gunners defence was “all over the place” at times.

“Arsenal have typically struggled after internationals,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“Now, that might be because there is a lot of youngsters in the team. When you are at the business end of the season you do not want them to struggle.

“They were just beaten by the better side on the day. Palace were a lot better. Our defence was all over the place at times. Sometimes when you have a bit of momentum the last thing you want is an international break. It can be hard to get it back after the break.

“Arsenal are not that team yet who can break up and then get straight back to it. They are not that side yet. There is an adjustment needed.

“I’m sure there will have been a meeting. It will be interesting to see how they respond for the Brighton game.”

In other news, it can be revealed that Arsenal have made up their minds on signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin after a ‘huge’ update.
