Arsenal supporters have taken to social media to voice their frustrations ahead of a battle to retain the Premier League trophy.

Mikel Arteta's side took the top tier of English football by storm in 2025-26, winning their first title since the 2003-04 season.

They pipped Pep Guardiola's Manchester City to the trophy by seven points in the end, and with Enzo Maresca's era now beginning, the Gunners are backed to repeat their success.

Fans have seen very little in pre-season so far, however, that gives them hope of doing so, being embarrassed by Real Betis before losing to Borussia Dortmund on Sunday, 9 August.

In just 29 minutes, Samuele Inacio and Konstantinos Karetsas had hit the back of the net. It's just pre-season, but it's difficult not to react.

Arsenal would go on to lose at the Emirates Stadium, and it was Gabriel Magalhaes' defending that caught the spotlight in front of thousands.

Arsenal told to consider Gabriel Magalhaes' sale

Despite being one of the league's best centre-backs, Gabriel is now facing plenty of fan fury, especially for his lack of urgency during Karetsas' goal.

Multiple fans are now suggesting that Gabriel simply isn't the same player without William Saliba, who is suffering from a back problem, by his side.

Not only did he give away at least one simple goal, he was also booked on the stroke of half-time for a foolish challenge, one that he didn't need to make.

While comments of him being "one of the worst defenders" without his defensive partner are a stretch, he certainly seems to struggle with someone different next to him.

Who else's future isn't safe at Arsenal?

So far, Arteta has only welcomed three new faces to the squad during the summer window - Illan Meslier, Christos Tzolis and Bruno Guimaraes.

While two of them are, obviously, huge names, supporters are disappointed by the lack of action in the market, with outgoings still to come.

Out of everyone, it would appear that Gabriel Martinelli could be next to leave, while Gabriel Jesus, Ethan Nwaneri and Martin Odegaard all have question marks over their heads.

If Arsenal want to go one step further and win the Champions League, Arteta needs to be making some serious changes to the squad, not just minor ones.
