Sources: Arsenal set Viktor Gyokeres asking price as interest builds
Arsenal want to recoup the entirety of the £55million they paid to sign Viktor Gyokeres if the striker decides he wants to leave in the next 12 months, sources have told Football Insider.
The 28-year-old has been out of favour with Mikel Arteta at the moment, and is understood to consider his options in January if his situation doesn't change.
Arsenal feel that a £55m price tag would attract interest from clubs, rather than tempting them away from a potential deal.
Sources say that Gyokeres' stock remains high in Europe, and several clubs from Italy, Spain and the Premier League would be keen to sign him if the chance arose.
However, any move is more likely to take place next summer rather than in January, with Arteta keen to keep his entire group intact.
Gyokeres netted 21 goals in his debut season for the Gunners last term, but has found himself firmly behind Kai Havertz in the pecking order this season.
Viktor Gyokeres 'frustrated' at Arsenal
Gyokeres was criticised at Arsenal at times last season, but he still delivered a significant goal return in his first season back in English football.
However, the former Coventry man was dropped in favour of Havertz for the Champions League final, and has since remained behind the German.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that he is "frustrated" by his lack of game time at the moment, and will give "serious thought" to a move away next summer.
The frontman's efforts have been rewarded with just 80 minutes of Premier League action so far this term, and if that continues, then he is prepared to step away next summer.
However, with Arteta keen to line up a replacement before he gives any consideration towards opening the exit door, a move in January is unlikely.
Arsenal 'doing everything' to seal Martin Odegaard deal
Football Insider recently revealed that Arsenal are "doing everything" they can to tie star midfielder Martin Odegaard down to a new contract.
The Norway international's current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2028, but the club are hoping to agree an extension to that as quickly as possible.
They recently handed a new deal to Arteta, and are now turning their attention towards securing the futures of the spine of their team.
Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber are also top priorities for new deals, with that duo also due to leave in 2028 as things stand.
