Ashley Cole: Ex-teammate reveals what he’s ‘heard’ about new Everton man’s coaching

Paul Robinson has revealed new Everton first-team coach Ashley Cole is “very knowledgable” when it comes to the tactical side of football.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England goalkeeper said “everything he’s heard” about the 41-year-old’s coaching “has been positive.”

On Thursday (3 February), the Toffees confirmed Ashley Cole has joined Frank Lampard’s backroom staff.

Cole leaves his role as England Under-21s assistant manager to take on the job.

Robinson is over the moon to see his ex-England teammates handed at opportunity at Goodison Park.

“Everything I’ve heard about Ashley’s coaching has been positive,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“I have shared a dressing room with him and let me tell you, he’s a very knowledgable player.

“He was probably the best left-back this country has ever had. If he can give some of that knowledge to the Everton players then it would be great.

“Ashley has a great reputation in the game. In the short time he’s been coaching, he seems to have found his role.

“It is great to see some of my generation taking on roles at big clubs.”

Speaking to club media after his appointment, Cole said: “I was thrilled when Frank asked me to join him at Everton.

“This is a brilliant opportunity with a fantastic club and I am coming here to work hard and try to help bring success to Everton.”
