Asmir Begovic reacts to ‘new chapter’ message from Everton after transfer news
Asmir Begovic reacted to a message on social media from Everton after the club confirmed another new signing.
The Toffees are undergoing a major re-tooling of their first-team squad ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Seven senior players have departed the club this summer, including Man United target Dominic Calvert-Lewin and midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Carlos Alcaraz has signed permanently following his loan from Flamengo, but football finance expert Dan Plumley told Football Insider that Everton would have a limited budget to work with this transfer window, meaning the Toffees will need to be smart with the players they do bring in.
However, one area that was an absolute necessity to address was the striker position, with Beto the only recognised number nine on the books.
And following weeks of negotiations, David Moyes now has an exciting new option up top who will perfectly suit the way he likes his team to set up.

The Toffees shared a few snippets from the 22-year-old’s first interview with the club on Instagram, captioned: “Ready to play his part in our exciting new chapter.”
The post was liked by Begovic, showing his support for the new arrival at the Hill Dickinson.
Thierno Barry the perfect David Moyes striker
Football Insider Verdict
There’s still a long way to go, and lots of work to be done in the transfer window, but Everton are building their most exciting project in years.
Barry is far from the finished product, but if the Toffees can build around the Frenchman with midfielders getting close to the striker, the 22-year-old could wreak havoc on the Premier League.
In his first season in Spain’s top-flight last season, the France Under-21 International scored 11 times as Villareal qualified for the Champions League for the first time in three years.
Standing at six feet five inches tall, many might assume Barry is a pure target man, but the forward is equally adept at running in behind, making him a dual-threat.
Everton will need a new crop of wingers to fix the supply issues that have made being Everton’s number nine such a difficult task in recent years, but once they secure some new wide men, Moyes’ side looks set for their best season in a long, long time.
