Aston Villa ace Matty Cash sends two-word message for Crystal Palace semi final

Aston Villa face a huge game in the context of their season when they take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi final.

The two sides are set to meet at Wembley on Saturday afternoon (26 April), when Unai Emery‘s side will aim to keep their hopes of ending the club’s long wait for silverware.

Earlier this month, Aston Villa saw their dream Champions League run brought to an end by PSG at the quarter final stage.

Meanwhile, a stoppage time defeat to Man City in midweek has also harmed their hopes of returning to Europe’s top competition for next season.

The significance of this clash with Palace has therefore arguably increased even further, and Matty Cash looks to be relishing that encounter.

The Poland international has once again be a regular feature for Emery’s men at right-back when fit over the course of this season.

Even so, there have been suggestions Aston Villa could look to sign a new right-back amid concerns over Cash in the summer transfer window.

For now though, the 27-year-old appears to be fully focused on this huge game for his team that is on the horizon.

Taking to his Instagram story on Friday afternoon, the Aston Villa star posted a picture of himself in training, before captioning it with a confident sounding message that simply read: “Wembley ready”.

Football Insider Verdict

There is going to plenty of pressure on Cash and his teammates going into this match with Crystal Palace at Wembley.

Given their higher position in the Premier League, big game experience in Europe and extra day’s preparation, there are plenty of reasons for Aston Villa to be favourites here.

As a result, when their fans have endured such a long wait for a trophy, there will be some major disappointment around the club if they do not at least reach the final next month.

Yet despite that, those connected with the club will also be well aware they were thrashed 4-1 by Oliver Glasner’s side when they met in the Premier League earlier this year.

This is therefore not a match that Aston Villa can take for granted, especially with what is at stake, and the response to that from their squad will be telling when it comes to the club’s trophy hopes for the future.
