John Percy of The Telegraph reported on 30 April that Martinez, along with teammate Leon Bailey, is among the latest players being targeted for a move to Saudi Arabia.

It was also suggested that with Martinez being one of the club’s highest earners, Villa may feel that this summer could be the “right time to listen to offers” for the Argentine goalkeeper.

Since arriving at Villa Park in 2020, he has established himself as a key figure and fan favourite. However, with the club needing to navigate Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), offloading a high-value asset could help ease financial pressure.
