Aston Villa centre-back confirms exit as Bruce player dump continues
By Matt Bullin
Aston Villa centre-back Joonas Sundman has announced he is leaving the club with an emotional message on Twitter.
The 19-year-old’s contract expires this summer and he will not be signing an extension.
The young Fin arrived at Villa’s academy in 2014 when he was just 16, after being scouted by SJK’s youth team.
He failed to make a first-team appearance for the Villans after a string of injury problems, but he did feature for the Under-23s seven times in the Premier League 2 this campaign.
Sundman took to his personal Twitter account to post a message, informing the fans of his departure.

He said: “Time to move on. Things didn’t really work out during my time in England with all the injuries but made lots of memories and new friends in those three years which I’ll never forget.”

Sundman becomes the sixth Under-23s player offloaded by Steve Bruce in recent weeks as he looks to completely overhaul his squad.
Tom Leggett anounced he was leaving on his Instagram page, while Joe Linley, Jerell Sellars and Rory Hale have also been cut from the squad after failing to break into the first team.
The exits come after Bruce had revealed to the Birmingham Mail that he would look to offload “12 or 13” players this summer as he aims to overhaul his squad.
John Abdoul has also left the club, and the Birmingham Mail reports more exits are imminent.
In other Aston Villa news, fans have called for the club to sign this 24-year-old.
