Aston Villa could sanction Cameron Archer loan on one condition – Agbonlahor

Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed Aston Villa would only let Cameron Archer leave on loan another attacker.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa captain said Steven Gerrard will wait to decide on Archer’s future after a deal for Ismaila Sarr fell through.

Archer, 20, currently has five years left on his contract at Villa Park after signing an extension earlier this month (5 August).

On Monday (22 August), a source told this site that the Villans have ended their pursuit of Sarr, 24.

The forward underwent a medical after Watford accepted a £27million bid.

However, the Senegal international could not agree personal terms with the club and Gerrard had second thoughts on signing the player.

According to journalist The Telegraph’s John Percy (22 August), Watford were going to include a loan move for Archer as part of the deal.

When asked if another loan move is likely for the attacker, Agbonlahor told Football Insider: “Steven Gerrard probably thought Sarr was coming in.

Then he probably thought if he’s got Sarr he’s maybe got too many attackers so Archer’s not going to get the playing time, which is understandable.

But, Steven Gerrard will not let Archer go on loan unless he brings in another player. If he doesn’t bring in another attacker he won’t let him go. I think Archer is going to have to wait until Aston Villa decide if they’re bringing in another attacker.
