Aston Villa expert issues Emiliano Martinez claim after source reveals dressing room fall-out
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Emiliano Martinez should only be allowed to leave Aston Villa for a fee of over £50million this summer.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 30-year-old is the “best goalkeeper in the world” following his success with Argentina in Qatar.
Sources told this site on Tuesday (21 February) that there is a genuine and deep-rooted clash of personalities between Emery and Martinez after he defied his manager’s instructions during the 4-2 loss against Arsenal on Saturday (18 February).
Football Insider revealed last week (20 February) that Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Juventus are plotting a move for the World Cup winner with the Midlands giants ready to listen to offers this summer.
Martinez has gone public with his desire to compete at the highest level and win more silverware following his World Cup triumph in 2022.
However, the former Arsenal star has more than four years left to run on his contract at Villa Park.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “It comes into the territory of Aston Villa naming their price.
“He’s a World Cup winner, and the best goalkeeper in the world, for me.
“Put £50million on the table if you want him. If you can’t offer that much, don’t even bid.
“I’,m led to believe that Aston Villa are in a great position. He’s on a long contract.

“They can say to him that he’s allowed to leave, but they are well within their rights to hold out for his true worth.
“Anything less than £50million, he shouldn’t be going anywhere.”
