Aston Villa expert thrilled by potential Marcus Thuram deal as club chief speaks out
Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Aston Villa to complete a deal for out-of-contract star Marcus Thuram this summer.
The former Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old’s versatility and pedigree makes him an “exciting” prospect for the Midlands giants.
Speaking to Sport1 (19 February), Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Roland Virkus admitted he could not “sugar coat” Thuram’s contract situation and conceded he will leave the club for free this summer.

Aston Villa have been linked with the striker, alongside the likes of Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Arsenal.
Thuram has scored 14 goals in 23 appearances across all competitions this season and turned out for France at the World Cup in Qatar.
Aston Villa let Danny Ings leave for West Ham in January, leaving Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran as the only senior striking options.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “We saw a lot of him at the World Cup.
“He’s got speed, power, technical ability. He will have been disappointed to miss the chance to win that trophy.
“He can play on the wing, down the middle – and it’d be a great addition.
“He has such a good pedigree, and he fits exactly the profile of player we need. Someone who can play in two roles, someone exciting.
“He can score a goal, he’s strong – I think it’d be a great signing for Aston Villa.”

Thuram has exclusively played as a striker this season but has made almost 100 career appearances on the left side of a front three.
He turned out from the bench five times for beaten finalists France at the World Cup in Qatar.
