Aston Villa facing new problem after confirmed news – expert

Alan Hutton is worried the FA Cup clash against Stevenage could be a “potential banana skin” for Aston Villa.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa right-back said the clash will give Unai Emery the chance to see some fringe players in a competitive fixture.

The Birmingham club will face League Two side Stevenage in the third round of the FA Cup at the start of next year.

The Villans have just one player left at the World Cup in Qatar, Argentinian goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

His side progressed to the quarter finals following a 2-1 win over Australia on Saturday (3 December).

When asked if the match against Stevenage is the perfect tie for Emery’s side, McAvennie told Football Insider:I think so.

I do not think they can take any game lightly. Anything is a potential banana skin. I have been there myself when we got turned over by a lesser team. It does not feel good.

“It is an opportunity that he can use the squad and he should definitely have enough to go through that tie.

The boys that maybe have not had a lot of game time since Emery has been at the club, he will have a real opportunity to see these guys in a competitive game and I think it is a good tie for them.
