Aston Villa fans explode at ‘ridiculous’ Marcus Rashford transfer update
Aston Villa fans have taken to social media to react to reports linking Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford with a loan move to the club.
The England international is reportedly close to signing for Unai Emery’s side, with [The Athletic] claiming the 27-year-old is nearing a temporary switch.
The deal is expected to include an option to buy, and it has been suggested that Rashford has already said his goodbyes at Old Trafford.
If Emery decides to trigger the purchase clause, Rashford would sign a contract running until 2028.
However, Villa would need to cover his wages on a 60/40 split, representing a significant financial commitment.
Fans are not entirely convinced by the deal—not only due to the cost implications but also because it could see Rashford replace Jacob Ramsey, who has been in impressive form recently.
Aston Villa fans unimpressed about Marcus Rashford signing
The United academy graduate has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe during the January transfer window.
However, it appears that Emery’s side are making the most advanced approach as they look to replace Jhon Duran, who recently left to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.
Duran’s departure received widespread criticism from fans and pundits alike, but the reported £71 million fee [BBC Sport] could provide long-term financial benefits for Villa.

Losing the Colombian leaves Villa short on attacking options. Rashford’s potential arrival would provide Emery with much-needed depth in attack following the Duran’s exit.
Despite this, many fans are not convinced by the signing, citing financial concerns and the potential impact on Ramsey’s playing time. One fan called the deal a “ridiculous outlay” while another added, “There’s no way he’s playing over Ramsey”.
