‘Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey will replace Morgan Gibbs-White at Nottingham Forest’

Nottingham Forest are interested in Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey as they look to bolster their options amid the Morgan Gibbs-White transfer saga.

After enjoying a largely impressive campaign last season, Forest have already lost Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are set for yet another difficult departure amid Tottenham’s advances for Gibbs-White.

Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Gibbs-White is still set to join Spurs even though Nottingham Forest have protested against the North London side who activated the attacking midfielder’s £60 million release clause.

Ramsey tipped to succeed at Nottingham Forest after Aston Villa exit

Gibbs-White played an integral role as Nottingham Forest secured European football last term, notching seven goals and eight assists in 38 Premier League appearances.

Meanwhile, Ramsey played a minor role in Aston Villa’s largely impressive season, making just 19 top-flight starts.

According to The Telegraph [15 July], Forest have made Ramsey their top transfer target ahead of next campaign.

Speaking about the City Ground outfit’s interest in the 24-year-old live on talkSPORT on Wednesday, 16 July, Ray Parlour said: “They need another midfielder now, don’t they?

“If Gibbs-White does go, which he hasn’t done yet, but it will happen somewhere along the line.

“It’s another opportunity for him isn’t it? For me if you’re not playing on a regular basis, I would go Forest all day long. I would say that’s a good move for Forest as well.”

Football Insider verdict

Although Gibbs-White’s move to Tottenham has been delayed because Nottingham Forest want to take legal action, the former Wolves man is still set to join Thomas Frank’s side ahead of next season.

Ramsey endured a lack of game time at Villa last term

As outlined by Parlour, the 25-year-old’s exit would mean that Espirito Santo would need to acquire a suitable replacement, with the East Midlands club vying for yet another successful campaign.

Meanwhile, Ramsey has endured a lack of game time over the last two seasons, but he managed a respectable return of six goals and eight assists when Aston Villa trusted him with more minutes in 2022/23.

Those exploits suggest that the Villa academy graduate would be a great option for Nottingham Forest, once the East Midlands club reluctantly part company with Gibbs-White.

The fact that Espirito Santo’s side have identified Ramsey as such a key target suggests that they are prepared for Gibbs-White’s exit despite their protestations.
