Aston Villa news: Danny Mills issues Matty Cash quit claim after Atletico Madrid update
Danny Mills has tipped Matty Cash to stay at Aston Villa and snub a potential move to Atletico Madrid.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds and England defender questioned why Cash would quit a club challenging to finish in the top-six for a foreign club in a “state of flux”.
The Poland international, 24, is in red-hot form at the moment after scoring a goal and providing an assist in the 3-0 win over Leeds United last night (10 March).
That brings his number of goal contributions to four in his last three Premier League games.
The Daily Mail reported last Thursday (3 March) Atletico Madrid have identified Cash as a potential transfer target ahead of the summer window.
Those close to the full-back told Birmingham Live yesterday (10 March) he sees his long-term future at Villa Park.
“It’s a risk going abroad if you don’t speak the language,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Kieran Trippier did well over there and won La Liga. Atletico are in a little bit of a state of flux at the moment.
“Why would you want to leave Aston Villa? They’ve got some really good signings in, a really good young manager doing well and the money to go to the next level.
“If they get Coutinho in permanently, you’ve already got the likes of Ollie Watkins in there too. They brought in Lucas Digne as well.

“Everybody has had a lift from Coutinho and Gerrard. A couple more signings and there’s no reason why they can’t challenge for the top-six.
“There’s a lot to be said about playing week in, week out for a team that is challenging for the top-six in the Premier League.”
