Aston Villa news: Kortney Hause could be ‘slacking in training’ amid Bodymoor Heath reveal – Agbonlahor

Kortney Hause may have dropped down the Aston Villa pecking order because of poor performances in training, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer admitted he was “surprised” Calum Chambers started ahead of Hause in the last two games.

Steven Gerrard was unable to call on Ezri Konsa for the defeats against Newcastle United and Watford due to suspension.

Chambers told club media last Thursday (17 February) he had fitted in seamlessly since his January move and had enjoyed the standard of training.

But Agbonlahor has suggested Hause, 26, is not pulling his weight at Bodymoor Heath and Chambers has benefitted as a result.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I was surprised [to see Chambers start] because Kortney Hause has filled in on the right side a few times for Konsa.

“He’s got more speed, he’s got more aggression and was given a new contract. I thought he might be third-choice but it looks like Chambers is third-choice. He did OK against Watford.

“I’m sure Gerrard will be happy to get Konsa back in there. His partnership with Mings is the best one he has.

“Maybe Kortney Hause is slacking on the training pitch to get in ahead of Chambers.”

Hause has featured in seven Premier League games this season, including four starts.

The 26-year-old signed a new contract with the club last month (22 January) that will keep him at Villa Park until the summer of 2025.
