Aston Villa news: Pundit issues ‘terrible’ claim and makes relegation prediction

Aston Villa could be dragged into the relegation battle if they don’t start winning soon.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Villains’ “terrible” form.

Villa were booed off the pitch as they lost at home to Watford last Saturday (19 February).

That result means Steven Gerrard’s side have only won two of their last nine league games.

Ahead of Saturday’s clash against Brighton, Villa sit in 13th place, seven points clear of the bottom three.

However, Kenny fears another defeat will pull the Villains into the relegation picture.

“For whatever reason, it’s not happening for them,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They don’t seem to be scoring and you look at Danny Ings, he’s only got four league goals this season.

“That’s not the Ings we are used to. Villa are relying on him for goals and he’s not providing.

“With Coutinho behind him there is no excuse, he will get plenty of chances.

“I’ll tell you what, if Villa don’t start winning soon they will be in the relegation conversation.

“Teams down there are winning and Villa just aren’t. They desperately need to win their next game now.

“The pressure really is on them because they haven’t even looked like winning recently. They have been terrible.”

Villa’s last league win came against Everton on 22 January.

Emi Buendia scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win at Goodison Park.

In other news, Aston Villa now have their own “Sergio Busquets” in the ranks according to one former star.
