Glenn Whelan 6 – It was in the middle of the park where Villa struggled the most. Whelan was not his normal, consistent self, guilty of giving the ball away and being rash in challenges. A yard off the pace.
Leandro Bacuna 4 (replaced by Andre Green, 70 mins) – Poor display and was taken off the field of play to cheers by Villa fans. The 25-year-old gave the ball away and showed little creativity when in possession.
