Aston Villa set for Samuel Iling-Junior exit decision ‘amid Championship interest’
Aston Villa youngster Samuel-Iling Junior is wanted on loan by Championship clubs before the transfer window closes.
Unai Emery has endured a largely quiet summer window, although Jacob Ramsey left Villa to join Newcastle.
Ramsey’s sale will bolster the West Midlands club’s PSR status because he is an academy graduate who has yielded them 100 per cent profit.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa stalwart John McGinn has attracted interest from Everton this summer, as David Moyes looks to strengthen his squad.

Aston Villa set to make Iling-Junior call amid loan interest from Championship
Amid their summer business, Aston Villa drew 0-0 with Newcastle in their opening Premier League fixture on Saturday, 16 August, despite Ezri Konsa’s red card.
Meanwhile, Lewis Dobbin has attracted interest from Preston, who want to sign the striker on loan as they look to enjoy a successful Championship campaign.
According to The Guardian on Monday, 18 August, Samuel Iling-Junior is also wanted on loan by second-tier clubs.
The versatile 21-year-old, who can play as a winger and fullback, was an unused substitute as Villa hosted Newcastle on 16 August.
Iling-Junior is yet to make a senior appearance for Aston Villa in a competitive fixture, instead enduring loan spells with Bologna and Middlesbrough last term.

Iling-Junior still has a point to prove in the Championship
Football Insider verdict
Iling-Junior featured in pre-season friendlies for Emery’s men this summer against clubs like Frankfurt, Nashville, Roma, and Marseille.
The former Juventus man also helped England win the Under-21 European Championship, making three appearances for Lee Carsley’s Young Lions.
However, while the 21-year-old appears unlikely to be a regular feature for Villa in the Premier League, he may feel he has unfinished business in the Championship, after failing to help Middlesbrough reach the playoffs last season.
Iling-Junior stats | Championship 2024/25 |
Appearances | 16 |
Goals | 1 |
Assists | 2 |
Iling-Junior scored in the Championship for Middlesbrough last season and should be able to perform well for a side who are chasing automatic promotion in the second tier.
Meanwhile, the former Chelsea academy starlet made 45 senior appearances for his former club Juventus, further epitomising the quality at his disposal.
As Iling-Junior is yet to make a Premier League appearance, he should be intent on making a loan move and showing his class in the Championship.
