Marvelous Nakamba: Medical expert names Aston Villa star’s exact return date after new update

Marvelous Nakamba could make his Aston Villa comeback against Leicester City on 23 April.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Nakamba, 28, has been out of action since injuring his medial collateral knee ligament in December last year, missing 18 games in that time.

Per Birmingham Live last Saturday (19 March), Steven Gerrard revealed that the midfielder will be “in full training after the international break.”

The Zimbabwe international is also expected to complete some sessions with Villa’s development squad this week

Dinnery has earmarked the Leicester game, Villa’s fourth after the international break, for Nakamba’s return.

“He’ll be very hopeful for that Leicester game in particular,he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“Villa have more or less a full squad and Steven Gerrard doesn’t need to take any unnecessary risks.

“If they keep on getting points on the board, he isn’t going to want to disrupt that midfield three too much.

“However, we saw the form of Nakamaba prior to his injury. He was one of the standout performers of the campaign.

“But things have shifted since then and Villa have improved a lot. It could be that now he has a bit-part role between now and the end of the season.

“That way he can focus on pre-season and hitting the new campaign fully up to speed and ready.”/

Nakamba has made 14 appearances in all competitions this term.

Left-back Lucas Digne and central defender Kortney Hause are also sidelined at Villa.
