Aston Villa star Youri Tielemans reacts after exit announcement

Aston Villa’s star midfielder Youri Tielemans has reacted to confirmation of a departure on social media.

With just one game remaining, the Villains are on the outside looking in, hoping for one of their top five competitors to drop points.

Should Man City, Newcastle, and Chelsea all win on the final day of the season, Unai Emery’s side will miss out on Champions League football next season.

Without the revenue from competing in Europe’s most prestigious tournament, the Villains may have to make some difficult decisions in regards to their transfer business.

Ollie Watkins may be an option to fix Arsenal’s striking woes, Alan Hutton told Football Insider exclusively, whilst Tielemans may be on his way to Saudi Arabia.

Robin Olsen receives award ahead of Aston Villa exit

During Villa’s club awards night, long-time servant of the club, Robin Olsen, received an award recognising his service to Emery’s side.

The club posted an image of the Swedish shot-stopper holding his award, captioned: “An award for Robin Olsen in recognition of all of his efforts at the club as he will be leaving at the end of the season — best of luck and thank you for everything”.

The 35-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, and Olsen has been previously linked with a return to Sweden.

The post was liked by the goalkeeper’s teammate, Tielemans, showing support for the outgoing Sweden international.

Football Insider Verdict

Whilst Olsen’s departure leaves the Villains needing to find a reliable number two between the sticks, the potential departure of their number one could pose a serious issue.

Sources revealed to Football Insider that Emi Martinez has been taken on as a client of super-agent Jorge Mendes and his renowned Gestifute agency.

Football finance expert Stefan Borson revealed Aston Villa could be forced to sell players this summer to remain compliant with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

The Argentine shot-stopper has endured a difficult season with the Villains, in spite of the team’s success as a whole.

Martinez will be 33 years old in September, and given their financial restraints, the temptation of cashing in on their goalkeeper may be too difficult to decline.
